personal messageHello, and welcome thank you for visiting my personal message board. I was born in Elmhurst, New York. My three loves are music, language and history. What i would like to find here is a person to hold an intelligent conversation. If that person happens to be a girl all the more better lol. I love music because it has helped and nurtured me through my teen years and beyond. It's lyrics have helped me in different aspects in my life. Hip Hop has given me insights to the streets. Rappers like Krs- One taught me not too sucumb to the hype of the streets and also helped me see other options in life. Such as doing something with my life other thatn getting locked up or killed. I am an only child and was brought up without a father, perhaps this is the reason why music was so influential to me in my life. Salsa as well played an important part in my life. Salsa gave me different stories of what love is and how to express love to another. Old school salsa gave other stories that just regarding Love. It also gave me political songs to think about such as Ruben Blades's Tiburon. The way I think about it is kids went to the library in the day and i went to listen to my boombox at night. Both the kids and me recieved a quality education. My fascination for language is not about different languages necessarily but of how analytical language can be. Language can prompt a variety of emotions in another. You could use language to manipulate others as well as to express one's love for another. It is this range of emotions that I find intriguing when one communicates with another. I respect someone who can get their message accross with conviction. This is the person who i aspire to be. I know it is not easy all the time but I do my best. Lastly, my last love is history. In this country you learn about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King a little of Malcolm X and key characters from the world wars and global conquerers. My point is at the age of nineteen I did not know anything where i came from. I remember i worked for the library for the summer and saw a book called "Latin Heroes". I went home that night thinking about it and i felt ashamed about not being able to name one. The more i thought about it I thought about my ancestors, my grandpa whom helped raised me(el es sangre indio). I felt it was important to pick up that book and start read that book. Seven years later I am still picking up books and learning about the past. In the end tu son mi gente and I would like to be able to talk to my people about anything. Thank you for taking the time to read my personnal message board. < @ b>HOTFreeLayouts.com favorite pages
