Psoriasis/Seborrhea

Many men come into the Salon concerned about baldness. Some have scalp conditions that are ignored and untreated. There are two main conditions that can cause or even promote a baldness pattern. While heredity may play a factor in natural baldness, there are care and preventions for those with conditions.

I want you to understand the two conditions.

Psoriasis - Red inflamed patches on the skin covered with a white buildup of dead skin cells. It can be itchy and sore. So this is more of a DRY and scaley condition.

Seborrhea Dermatitis - a skin condition that produces a reddish rash with greasy, yellow crust (due to overproduction of oil secretions) This is more of a soft, moisty-crust.

These conditions, when untreated for a good while can form scabs on the scalp, clogging the pores where healthy follicles grow through. Therefore preventing healthy hair growth.

It is advised that at the very early signs of these conditions, you should see a Dermatologist.

I suggest and recommend American Crew for Men Products.  There is a Peppermint Cleanse that is very beneficial to scalp conditions. This product has a gentle yet powerful cleansing action and it works as an astringent to help remove buildup, therefore promoting a healthy scalp.  Of course this isn't the only alternative. Ask your Stylist for other recommendations.
