As an Idealist, my mission in life is to make the world a better place. I care about big ideas and big issues, but I'm also dedicated to the lives of the people around me. In many ways, I'm the ideal friend or co-worker. I have great empathy skills. I give sound advice, but more importantly, I know when to just listen. At work, I'm a natural facilitator, motivator, and mentor. I have a gift for promoting harmony and cooperation at work. In fact, few things bother me more than conflicts at work.
My hopes and dreams are very important to me, so I take other people's dreams seriously, too. My friends and family know they can come to me for a booster shot of support and optimism, whether it's for pursuing their dream job or dream man or woman.
Most people have goals and dreams, but I'm more likely than most to actually achieve them. I have a clear idea of what I want in life. I anticipate and plan around obstacles, and I'm a sharp problem solver. Plus, it's pretty darn hard to discourage me.
Idealists come in many varieties, from the academic to the pragmatic. I stand soundly in the middle. Only I know what I'll do with your gifts. Ultimately, whether I touch the world, my community, or simply my closest friends and family it's Idealists like me that give us all the inspiration to dream and strive for something more.
I want and expect it all a lasting connection with someone on every level mental, emotional, sexual, and spiritual.
True Romantics like me are pretty rare. I have a good imagination, which allows me to visualize the type of woman I could fall in love with. I can actually see and feel the future happiness the two of us would share. I also have the patience and persistence to search for her. When I finally meet her, the attraction can be instant and overwhelming. True Romantics believe in destiny, but I'm also willing to give fate a push in the right direction. If necessary, I'll even make a total fool of myself to win her over. Romantics know that falling in love often means falling flat on your face.
My Biggest Challenge Is:
How can I promote harmony and still allow healthy conflict?
Idealists go out of their way to promote harmony at work, in their families, and among their friends. I'm a natural peacemaker and take it upon myself to mediate disputes. And whenever possible, I try to prevent them. On more than one occasion, I've probably asked: "Why can't we all just get along?!"
Yet conflict doesn't have to be destructive there is such a thing as healthy conflict. Even heated exchanges can be useful as long as all parties play fair.
Part of my challenge is learning to tolerate uncertainty and being disliked. As a creative person, I know that some of my best ideas come after long periods of frustration and feeling "blocked." I may find also that some of my relationships are equally blocked and require "creative conflict" to move forward.
Asking an Idealist and peacemaker to have more conflicts is admittedly ambitious. Still, one of my strengths is that I'm always open to new ideas and trying new things. In that spirit, here are some other possible challenges to consider:
I'm a people pleaser. I can be so focused on keeping other people happy that I forget to take care of my own needs. It sounds clich , but the only one that can satisfy my need for approval is myself.
First Date: Whatever comes to mind. River tubing is my favorite. Then we go eat (party after if moment calls for it).
