The Associated Press:

A new poll has the Republican challenger in the New Jersey governor's race widening his lead over Gov. Jon Corzine.
The Quinnipiac University Poll out Tuesday has GOP candidate Chris Christie leading the incumbent Corzine by 53 percent to 41 percent among likely voters.

A June 10 Quinnipiac poll had Christie up by 10 points, 50-40 percent. The most recent polling was done after Corzine signed a $29 billion budget that increased taxes and trimmed tax rebates.

In a three-way matchup that includes independent Christopher Daggett, Christie leads Corzine 47-38 percent, with Daggett getting 8 percent.

The telephone survey of 1,514 likely voters was taken July 8-12, and has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.

Unveils Energy as Industry: Manufacturing Wind and Solar Into Jobs

Chris Christie announced his Energy as Industry Plan via online networking sites today. The video features Chris Christie speaking directly to New Jerseyans about his commitment to expand renewable energy production as the foundation of the state's economic future. The Christie Plan highlights ways to increase solar and wind production not just as a way to increase energy efficiency, but as a way to recover the good-paying, middle-class jobs that have been lost.

Chris Christie said, "Renewable energy is the future and as the country and the world make it a priority, my administration will be committed to making New Jersey a leading provider and supporter of green technology."

The Energy as Industry Plan will advocate, promote, and market New Jersey renewable energy through Christie's personal advocacy, aggressive marketing campaigns, and incentives that will make it easier for companies located in New Jersey.
