Last week was the start of a new era in Pittsburgh Steelers history. While the change at QB will only be temporary the results will have a great impact as to where the team will be going from here on out. I was blessed enough to be @ opening day to witness the amazing OT victory over the Atlanta Falcons with a good buddy of mine who was brave enough to survive the drive from NJ to Pittsburgh and back within a 24 hour period. Yes, we were living HIGH off the victory, the love, the atmosphere and the food (Primanti's and Quaker Wings) despite the scattered empty seats and "we want Ben" chants. It even carried us on our 6 hour ride back while listening to the local Pittsburgh radio station try to pick apart Dennis Dixon's performance while giving the opposing QB (known as Matty Ice) their best sugar-coated treatment. Yeah, it reminded me of the days in which a former number 10 played QB for us would get the exact same treatment.

This week we get to play on the road against a much tougher opponent in the Tenn. Titans. As expected THEY are favored heavily (5 points last I checked) and MANY of the Pittsburgh faithful are looking forward to (or is it bracing yourself??) for our first loss of the season. Coming at the expense of number 10, of course. I don't see it that way. I see a team unity that was missing in 2009 that's slowly finding its way back in 2010. I think that instead of wishing for "what was" this team is concentrating on "making it happen right now". As fans of THIS team we should exude that exact same mentality as we root THIS SUNDAY and the days leading up to the Cleveland Browns game.

There's no doubt that the actions of our leader have rubbed a few folks the wrong way. So much so that they find it extrememly difficult to root for him when he returns. Others have taken the path in which a vote of confidence for his temporary replacement is a betrayal of loyalty to number 7. Then there are those who just want their team to do well regardless of who commands the offense. They want to forgive but the reality of "the now" won't allow them to forget, which in turn, disables their ability to forgive. I'm not here to pass judgement or take sides. All I want is Steeler Nation to come together and "root for the now" until our final game of the 2010/2011 season.
HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!!!!

BIG GAME TONIGHT!!!!!

The season for our beloved Pittsburgh Steelers is officially on the line starting with tonight's game against the Cleveland Browns (stains or clowns as we diehards call them). The game starts around 8pm tonight on the NFL Network (ch. 212) in the NYC area. I hear that there are going to be some benchings and that Tomlin has made things real clear to many of his players that a loss in Cleveland will not be tolerated in the least bit. Now would be the perfect time to get those old Steeler jerseys out of the closet, unpack that terrible towel that you have hidden the back of your drawer and head down to your favorite sportsbar or pack your house with your hardcore Black and Gold brethren and let our boys feel the luv that Steeler Nation has been known in decades past. Yeah, I know its a school or work night but all that comes secondary during a state of emergency. Right now...we've got one. We can't worry about what the Jets, Jags, Ravens or Dolphins are or aren't gonna do. We need to take care of homebase and let the chips fall where they may. Over 2 years ago we were in the exact same situation..a team looking for a 6th seed in the AFC that had lost its identity and ability to put teams away. Do you know what happened next...we won 5 games in a row...upset Denver and Indy...then took care of business in Detroit against the Seattle Seahawks. I don't know where you guys will be or what you'll be doing @ 8pm..but I know where I'LL BE and WHAT I'LL BE DOING around that time. LET'S RIDE!!!!!!!!
