Description

Yes, we can heal this nation. Yes, we can seize our future. And as we leave this great state with a new wind at our backs and we take this journey across this great country, a country we love, with the message we carry from the plains of Iowa to the hills of New Hampshire, from the Nevada desert to the South Carolina coast, the same message we had when we were up and when we were down, that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we will hope. And where we are met with cynicism and doubt and fear and those who tell us that we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of the American people in three simple words -- yes, we can. South Carolina -- partial transcript of Sen. Barack Obama's remarks after he won the Democratic presidential primary in South Carolina.

Dear Latinos for Obama,

Please click on the link below to see a music video in support of Democrats.

It will get you fired up as we near election time. Please share with everyone you know so that they get inspired too, but more importantly, try to get as many people as you can to the polls on November 2. We need to get as high a turnout as possible in order to succeed. Let's do our best to spread the word and help Democrats win.

2010 SOUTH CAROLINA GREEN PARTY CANDIDATE
FOR UNITED STATES SENATE

About Tom Clements:
Tom Clements, born in Savannah, Georgia, holds a BA from Emory University and a Masters in Forest Resources from the University of Georgia. He worked for Greenpeace International for 13 years, traveling to Russia, Japan, South Korea and Europe, challenging unwise nuclear power and weapons policies. As Executive Director of the Nuclear Control Institute [NCI] in Washington, D.C., an organization which has led the fight against nuclear proliferation for decades, Clements worked on a host of issues related to the spread of nuclear materials and technology, and gained extensive foreign policy experience interacting with a host of governments at the United Nations in New York and Geneva.

He currently serves as the Southeastern Coordinator for Friends of the Earth [FOE], an international organization fighting to protect our environment and its least fortunate citizens, where he focuses on issues related to nuclear power and nuclear waste. In this capacity he also serves as the public interest watchdog over the Department of Energy⿿s Savannah River Site near Aiken, S.C., one of the most contaminated and potentially dangerous nuclear waste sites in the country.

He recently led the fight against rate increases for utilities to pay in advance for controversial and costly nuclear weapons programs, arguing for more efficient and sustainable energy programs. Clements served in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica, with the Peace Brigades International in Colombia, and is fluent in Spanish. Tom uses his bicycle for transportation whenever possible, heats his home with a wood stove and salvaged wood, and grows excellent tomatoes.
