PPG Architectural Coatings services the North American coatings industry across three channels. We operate 400+ retail stores, sell to over 2000 dealers and supply product to large home improvement retailers, such as Lowe's.

The company employs over 40,000 people worldwide, has more than 150 manufacturing facilities and operates in more than 60 countries.   Through providing excellent customer service, the Sales Service Representative (SSR) will service and retain up to 400 customers. Products will be sold to customers across all segments or in some case to a specific segment such as apartments, multi-family homes etc. Products include interior/exterior house paints, high performance coatings and sundries.

Job responsibilities include: Maintain regular contact with customers to understand needs and to identify business opportunities
Ensure timely follow-up to customer needs
In conjunction with Regional Sales Manager or Outside Sales Representatives and in response to customer needs, facilitate product recommendations, application and performance and color
Work with the PPG credit department to manage customer debt
Develop good understanding of customer base and the segments serviced
In conjunction with Regional Sales Manager or Outside Sales Representatives, facilitate timely and accurate customer quotations
Achieve Price or Margin targets
Manage expenses

Requires:

1. Great follow up skills
2. Ability to work well with diverse customers
3. Able to problem solve - deal with customer complaints in a timely manner and identify appropriate solutions
4. Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format.
5. Must be able to speak persuasively using appropriate interpersonal styles to gain agreement
6. Ability to calculate discounts and profit associated with selling price; ability to calculate commissions associated with territory performance; to take measurements and calculate surface area associated with making product volume estimates.
7. Ability to read and understand product data sheets, material safety data sheets, scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
8. Ability to analyze territory performance reports and develop sales territory business plans.
9. Ability to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and write technical reports to communicate the information.
10. Understand pricing
11. Availability to work and travel within assigned territory 30% of time. Periodic evening hours required for trade organization meetings and customer events.
12. Must possess a valid Driver's License and have maintained a motor vehicle record within acceptable limits as prescribed by PPG

1. Prior experience in a sales service role with demonstrated success in customer retention
2. A 2 or 4 year degree in a business related field or equivalent work experience
3. Previous coatings experience
4. Previous sales experience
5. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Internet applications
