SUMMARY
This position is for a Accountant - Projects within the Aerospace Defense and Space Federal Manufacturing and Technologies (FM&T) Finance organization. FM&T, also known as the Kansas City Plant is a U.S. Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration facility managed and operated by Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T). Our primary business is to manufacture sophisticated mechanical, electronic and engineered-material components for our nation's defense system. Our goal is to seek innovative solutions that surpass our customers' expectations. To accomplish this, we research, develop and deploy some of the most advanced design and manufacturing technologies in use in the United States today.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the creation and maintenance of projects in the ERP system
Analyze and coordinate cost transfer transactions
Prepare cost overrun reports; work with project managers to resolve issues timely
Perform project costing and commitment analysis
Prepare project pro-forma statements and associated journal entries
Enter COLA adjustments into the ERP system Projects module
Maintain job code / labor data class integrity in the ERP system
Provide detail reports to the General Ledger Group monthly
Provide billing/cost detail to customers as requested
Investigate project-related issues and recommend corrective actions
Support the General Ledger closing at month-end, including preparing and submitting assigned jounral entries and account reconciliations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS US Citizenship (in order to obtain and maintain security clearance)
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent discipline
Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in accounting and/or finance
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Microsoft Office (Excel/Word) proficiency
Ability to work independently and develop and maintain strong partnership/teambuilding relationships with other functional areas
Cognizance of government sector accounting and finance systems
Strong analytical skills with ability to apply appropriate judgment
Familiarity with and record of effectively using Six Sigma tools
Strong personal computer skills
Familiarity in PeopleSoft applications (specifically the projects module)
Effective verbal, written and presentation communication skills
Demonstrated ability to influence others and able to build positive working relationships
Motivated and proactive self starter with sense of urgency and results oriented; promotes positive attitude
Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR 707.4 will be conducted by Honeywell FM&T. In addition, a background investigation by the Federal government will be required to obtain an access authorization prior to employment, and subsequent reinvestigations will be required. If the position is covered by the Counterintelligence Evaluation Program regulations at 10 CFR 709, successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination
