Under the direction of the Innovation and Growth Initiatives Vice President, provides strategic vision and executive day-to-day leadership for the TeleNostics business initiative, created to develop and pursue market opportunities in the telematics, diagnostics and prognostics of equipment, vehicles and freight container's status data to improve fleet vehicle and equipment availability while reducing operating and maintenance costs. Drawing on experience in building and managing start-up businesses, establishes and executes a well-defined strategic plan which is focused on market development and penetration, growth and maximizing company value. As a key member of the Managing Board, develops excellent working relationships with the Board members and quickly assimilates into, or bridges to, the BAE Systems culture as a strong leader. Upon development and approval of the initiative business, marketing and financial plan, directs and controls all aspects of its execution through initiative directors, program and functional managers and contractors, teammates and small business partners; driving rapid growth, and leading the initiative to profitability within the shortest period of time. Together with the VP, works to establish a positive and healthy work environment reinforcing our companys values. Note this position can be based in a wide range of geographic location. Primary Duties and Responsibilities 1. Establishing an organization structure and management team that can effectively manage operations appropriate to the size and projected revenue base of the initiative; and prepare it for continuing rapid growth. 2. Leading the management team to develop, implement and execute a strategic and sound business plan designed to achieve the growth and profitability goals approved by the Managing Board. 3. Overseeing the development and implementation of a marketing and sales strategy and program, focused on the delivery of initiative products and/or services throughout its cycle; from selection of a core product/service for the identified first or early adopter, through incremental, timely capability and market expansion to ultimate delivery of whole systems for the more main stream customer; facilitating continuous and accelerated growth and profitability. 4. Driving continuous change/improvement and flexibility into the organization while at the same time instituting discipline and rigor in executing to the established plan. Ensuring the establishment and implementation of key milestones, plans and controls (including management of risks and opportunities) to provide for successful execution of programs for current customers while preparing technology, capability and business models to ensure future unfair advantage of the initiative throughout the selected Field-of-Play. 5. Preparing monthly reports for discussion with the Managing Board of key program status (highlighting milestones and key points of progress), financial status, significant problem areas and corrective action being taken. 6. Inspiring performance, instilling the mission and goals, and setting the stage for the acquisition, retention, and management of superior talent for the initiative. Coaching and counseling initiative personnel. Attracting, developing and mentoring top talent. Building a strong team and setting the tone for a high trust environment. Leveraging the skills and maximizing the capabilities of all team members. 7. Being the companys link to major customers, alliance partners, teammates and other stakeholders. Developing relationships necessary to ensure the initiatives success. Understanding the value emergent opportunities bring to the initiatives future, and prioritizing relationships and effort effectively. 8. Operating within ethical, legal and prescribed company guidelines for initiatives.
Min. Education: Bachelor's Degree Pref. Education: Master's Degree (MBA or Technical) Min. Experience: More than 20+ years of work experience including demonstrated success with P&L responsibility in a CEO or COO level position within a start-up focused on new product development and market penetration. Pref. Experience: Significant exposure to the ?specialty vehicle/container fleets? market (Freight, utility, fire and rescue, mining, heavy equipment, snow removal, etc.) with experience in Reliability Centered Maintenance, ?targeted availability?, and/or fleet maintenance management; or Telematics, Diagnostics and Prognostics new product or system development. Small Business background in an ownership or leadership position within a Start-up. Sales and/or sales management experience
