News & Updates April 2006 - Well since our last update, the couple seem to have their good and bad days. Jessica is off filming a movie "Employee of the Month" and Nick is out and about promoting his new CD and the new single from it "What`s Left of Me", i`ve heard it, its a great song, kinda sad, reminding you of his relationship with Jessica and still offering her "whats left of him" awwww. Anyway, 93.1 DJ reports that Lachey is doing "swell" (April 2, 2006) during Saturday`s "Big Dance" activities on Monument Circle. On stage, Lachey said he and Simpson are still officially married. Splits like theirs, he said, take a long time to become final. Jessica is also said to be up for the role of a "remake" of Californian beach drama Baywatch. Jess will reportedly play a heroic lifeguard on Venice Beach, California and is expected to take up Pamela Anderson`s legacy. Guess we`ll see. She is also said to grace the cover of Maxim magazine (again) she had a Maxim photoshoot scheduled for the week of March 20th. Dec. 18, 2005 - Oh well so much for our hopes! Former couple Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey enjoyed a romantic final get-together last week on the evening before Jessica filed for divorce. According to US news show Extra, the couple met up at the home owned by Simpson`s parents in Encino, California for a `last supper.` Simpson officially filed for divorce on Friday (Dec. 16). At the meeting, the couple both agreed Jessica would file divorce papers the following day. Sources close to the split couple claim both Lachey and Simpson are keen to remain friends as they divide up their assets. The news show`s reports claim Simpson is prepared to give the former 98 Degrees star half of their marital assets, but is refusing to pay spousal support. The singer cited "irreconcilable differences" and requested that her last name be officially changed back to Simpson in a divorce petition filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. Lachey, who has hired Los Angeles-based attorney Laura Wasser, was not surprised by the filing, a source close to him tells PEOPLE. "He was hoping for the best, but as time went by, he was prepared for what became inevitable," says the source. "(He and Jessica) hadn`t spoken in a couple weeks. That gives us all hope that she and Nick can work it out! and finally some better news: Us Weekly editor said that Nick & Jessica speak everyday and that a reconciliation is not out of the question... Nov. 29, 2005 - (Sources: SweetKisses.net & J-Simpson.org) When "Newlyweds" JESSICA SIMPSON and NICK LACHEY announced on November 23 that they were calling it quits, it certainly didn`t come as a complete surprise in light of the ongoing break-up rumors that had been plaguing the couple. In the latest issue of US Weekly, out on newsstands Friday, the magazine offers up some revealing details about the split. Sources tell US that Jessica sent Nick an e-mail on November 23 about her plans to go public with the news that their union was coming to an end. "She had had enough of the marriage and the fighting," the magazine quotes a source as saying. "She just wanted it to be over." Later that day, Nick and Jessica released the following statement: "After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways. This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time." Another source close to Nick tells US that he was blindsided. "He feels like he was sucker-punched. He wasn`t even expecting it. He was devastated." US also reports that Jessica is staying at her parents` home in Encino, CA, while Nick continues to reside at the couple`s Calabassas, CA home. According to the magazine, a source close to Jessica said that "she felt he didn`t want to be in the marriage, and she was tired of being in a fake marriage." On Thanksgiving, just one day after the separation was announced, US reports that Nick had dinner in Los Angeles with his brother, DREW, while Jessica ate with family at her grandparents` home in Texas. "She`s doing just fine," Jessica`s grandfather told US on November 27. Nov. 23, New York - A month after Us Weekly first reported on the breakup of Newlyweds Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, the couple has jointly announced an official separation. Us Weekly first reported the couple`s split in its October 17 issue; at that time, Lachey`s publicist issued a denial of an official separation. Just last week, Lachey partied alone with pals in Miami, on November 22, he attended the American Music Awards without his wife. Reports of trouble have dogged the relationship since the second season of Newlyweds. During the filming of Dukes of Hazzard in the fall of 2004 the couple were apart for months as Simpson stayed onset in Lousiana while Lachey continued to live in Los Angeles. "We knew when we got married that we both had aspirations in our professional lives," Lachey told Us in December 2004. "Some of those dreams are coming true and it means we`re not always together."
