Guia Rivera is an American pop singer, songwriter, dancer, and petite model. She is known for being the first Asian-American pop/r&b recording artist to receive national airplay on mainstream Latin radio stations in the US. Her song "Camaleon" was played on the Luis Jimenez Show syndicated nationally by all La Kalle stations (Univision Radio) in July 2007. Her interview feature in Canadian PulpMag advanced her as a newly international artist in December 2007. Guia Rivera was born a US military brat in San Fernando, Philippines. She started elementary school in Athens, Greece. The young, budding singer would always participate in gospel choir and concert choir. In March 2005, Guia Rivera got her professional start in music by winning a Chicagowide Spanish singing contest called Heineken Estrella sponsored by Heineken and Univision Radio. In July 2005, she ran off to New York City with nothing but a three-song demo, a suitcase, and a dream. By night, she headed straight to the hiphop venues and acoustic spots to hustle and grind her singing skills. Guia Rivera headlined at San Francisco?s premier nightclub the Glas Kat in February 2006. Radio host David Miranda of La Kalle 103.1 FM Chicago presented her as a guest on the air before her performance at their radio promotion at Transit nightclub in March 2007. "Camaleon" by Guia Rivera briefly aired on La Kalle 103.1 FM Chicago in May 2007. Host Tom Stahler interviewed her twice with two live on-air performances on WRLR 98.3 FM in July 2007. Her songs "Snake Charmer" and "Lemon Light" have received airplay on WRLR 98.3 FM. More highlighted performances include her opening for Tony Touch in February 2007, Vida Guerra in June 2007, and Sean Kingston at Nightshift in Soldier Field in August 2007, along with her debut in the Puerto Rican Festival in June 2007. She was invited by the University of Illinois - Urbana - Champaign to perform live in August 2007. She has worked with Atlantic Records veteran Silvio Tancredi and Grammy-nominated producer Soundtrakk and celebrity photographers Oscar Lopez of the Chicago Sun Times, Alberto Trevino of the RedEye (Tribune) and Paul Natkin. She performed and was interviewed as the focus of a half-hour segment on Hataw Pinoy Chicago TV in March 2008. She has been featured in news publications El Imparcial in April 2005, Philippine Weekly in July 2006, and The Filipino American Community Builder in March 2008. "Snake Charmer" by Guia Rivera is currently playing on WRLR 98.3 FM.
