The swine flu's impact on a Mexican small business

Posted

This whole swine flu came out of nowhere. I talk to my relatives in Mexico and they say that the streets are empty, people are not allowed to gather and everyone's walking around with their mouths covered.

They also say that the news there are actually reporting that the virus came from Canada, but all I hear in the US is that it originated in Mexico. We've already started seeing the huge economic impact this is having on Mexico's economy and I just hate the way the media in the US is handling the whole deal. On the first day, their headline was "should the border be closed?" I mean, I am concerned for outrsafety, but they are being way too sensationalistic and are not thinking of the consequences this will have on people depending on buying products from and traveling to Mexico, not only for Mexicans, but many Americans depend on the Mexican economy as well.

This hits very close to home because I sell products from Mexico. What would you guys do if your income depended on anything having to do with Mexico (tourism, food, clothing, etc.)?

"A curse does not come without a cause" Biblical! More important than where it began, is where it is impacting the most. Whenever any society, culture, nationality etc. suddenly suffers the impact of an unfortunate event, one must question the thought patterns of the collective consciousnesses. Remember... The majority (way of thinking) rules. The unseen controls/creates the seen. That which is seen can never come into manifestation by what appears. I could explain a whole lot more, but I sense that this is sufficient for now. Hopefully this will at the least begin the process of understanding. Peace!

It's sad that a young child was taken from his family due to this terible illness. But one has to be careful and watch for the signs/synthoms being broadcasted. Also you should be aware of your surrounds. Watch out for people that are coughing/sneezing and keep your distance. And for goodness sakes, wash your hands with soap and water. This flu is going to effect not only Mexico and America but the entire world. We don't want a repeat of the 1920's when millions died. Just be careful and use good common sense.

The media always blows everything out of proportion. I think this swine flu issue is probably serious, but not all the facts are being told. People get the flu every year ... some people die, its just the way things are. We should all take precautions as usual ... cover your mouth when you cough, wash your hands, try not to be in crowded areas. These are common sense precautions. But to start closing schools because someone is "suspected" of having the flu, I think is going to the extreme. Thiis will definitely hurt Mexico tourism; I already know people who have decided to cancel or postpone vacations there because of the swine flu and because of all the killings we hear about in the media.

I have a runny nose right now and when I went to the library, I wanted to sneeze, but held it because I was afraid someone would notice and make me leave!

One good thing! Pork prices have really dropped! I bought 3 big pork butts yesterday and put them in my freezer.

Anyway .............................. ...........

I wouldnt advise worrying yourself entirely too much.If it wasnt this it probaly would be something else that would make you question whether to stay in buisness.its just one of those things where you have to continue to keep doing the job that your doing and hope for the best.It aint over till its completly over.Remember that and that should keep you motivated to stay in buisness.Oh and if you were wondering when it'll be over it'll be over when your dead so as long as your above ground you still have a chance to do something money making wise.Take care.
